Beauty Review: Natural and Gluten Free Social Paint Lipsticks

lipsticks by social paint with a green palm frondsAs Plato once wrote, necessity is the mother of invention. Diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2004, Kristen Wallace Tostado struggled to find cosmetic products that she could use. Inspired by the lack of lack of natural and organic, certified gluten free, anti-aging, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory cosmetics on the market, Kristen set out to create her own. She founded Social Paint in 2017.  I recently received a palette of colorful lipglosses and was excited to try them!

Social Paint lipsticks are certified gluten free and 100% cruelty-free (Leaping BunnyTM certified) products are free of carcinogenic, hormone and endocrine disrupting ingredients, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, tricolsan, gluten, petrochemicals, and toxins.  They are committed to the integrity of their natural formulas and simultaneously the health and wellness of both their valued customers and the environment.

Because skin cancer runs in my family, my favorite thing about Social Paint lipsticks is that they have SPF 15. I personally don't understand why more companies don't do this. The skin of the lip is comprised of three to five cellular layers as vs. typical face skin, which has up to 16 layers. You put sunscreen on your face, so why wouldn't you on your lips? Social Paint uses non-nano zinc oxide which is tasteless and odorless. Genius!

My go to color has been Party Crasher, it's a fun pop of color that's perfect for summer months. Whether I'm out hiking or running around town, Cha Cha Cha is my daytime color of choice. Pucker and Real Housewife are great nudes, Real Housewife has some shimmer in it while Pucker is more of an opaque nude.  I reach for these when I'm doing a colored eyeshadow or don't want to compete with my eye makeup.

An added bonus is the refreshing scent of the lipglosses. It's not overly sweet or cloying like some heavily perfumed lipsticks and glosses can be.  I'm a big fragrance fan, and you know some scents can be deal breakers. Social Paint has a soft citrus fragrance. They're not sticky or thick and gloppy, they slide on smoothly and have a nice consistency. Put them on and go on with your day. An added bonus is that it's made in California, so shop local!

What a great find! I love make-up and skin care products that are healthy too, and love the story of how/why these were developed. The Party Crasher color looks great – will keep my eye out for it, or see how I can order it.

I just love people who create a product out of necessity. So inspirational. I love these colours. I’m not one for bold colours so this definitely up my street. Can I just say you wear these colours beautifully. Very classy look!

Necessity is the mother of invention. Isn’t that true? I love the pioneering spirit and this make up line is wonderful. The colors are natural and I bet the citrusy sent adds to the wonderful feel of wearing it.

Those colors are wonderful! I occasionally try to cut gluten out of my diet, but I had no idea it was in makeup as well.
